History of Lotus Temple, Delhi


It is the Baha'i House of Worship popularly known as Lotus Temple due to its flower like shape.In 1863,the Baha'i faith was founded by Baha'ullah of Iran and in 1986,Lotus Temple was opened by the followers of the community.It took six years in completion and cost Rs10 crore.

Features of Lotus temple, Delhi


The Lotus Temple complex is spread over an area of 2.6 acres.The temple has remarkable architecture and has won many awards for the same.There is an information centre and an auditorium in the premises.The information centre holds a lot of literature about the faith apart from a short film about it.India has 1.8-2.0 million followers of the faith and the complex witnesses an average footfall of 8,000 people daily.
