To apply for UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2011 age of the applicant should not be less than 21 years and not more than 30 years as on 01-08-2011 (Relaxation as per Govt rules). Offline application form: The eligible Candidates may also apply offline in the common application form devised by the commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head post office/post offices through t the country against cash payment of Rs 30/. UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2011 application fee


Application fee for those applying offline is Rs 100/- through central recruitment fee stamp only, (GEN, OBC), (No fee for SC/ST/PH/Female candidates) and for those who are applying online Rs 50/- in any branch of S.B.I.

UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2011 syllabus


UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2011 shall comprise two compulsory papers of 200 marks each as per the following syallbus:

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: 2 hours
• Current events of national and international importance
• History of India and Indian National Movement
• Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World
• Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues etc
• Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives etc
• General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate change that do not require subject specialization
• General Science.

Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: 2 hours
• Comprehension
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Decision making and problem solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeric (numbers and their relations,orders of magnitude,etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts,graphs,tables,data sufficiency etc.(Class X level)
• English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).
