Permanent Commission in Indian Army

A Permanent Commission in Indian Army means a career in the Army till you retire. There are two modes by which you can get a Permanent commission. You can join the National Defence Academy or the Indian Military Academy.

The National Defence Academy, Pune NDA

After completing your 12th or 10+2 you can take the NDA entrance examination. UPSC conducts NDA Exam. After Clearing the UPSC exam you will be called for a 5-day Service Selection Board interview. After successful interview you need to pass your fitness and medicals. After this procedure you will be in Pune in NDA.

You need to study for three years in NDA and you will find yourself a much improved person.

NDA provides a graduation degree and apart from this Natinal Defence Academy Pune, NDA has the finest infrastructure for imparting quality professional training. The cadets at NDA get phenomenal opportunities to develop their personality and cultivate new interests.

Interestingly in NDA Pune there are over 31 extra-curricular activities to choose from. The activities include aero-modeling, golf, gliding, sailing, wind surfing, astronomy, photography etc. and many more.

Indian Military Academy, Dehradun IMA

IMA or Indian Military Academy is Indian Army's another cradle of leadership. To get into Indian Military Academy there are four main entries.

After completing your Graduation you need to clear the CDS (Combined Defence Services) exam conducted by UPSC. You can also sit in this exam in your final year Graduation. On clearing the CDS Exam you will be called for SSB at various centers across India. SSB will follow medical fitness test. You need to be medically fit and join IMA as a Direct Entry if you come in merit.

Apart from this there are other entries for getting into IMA. You can apply after 12th or 10+2 (Tech Entry). There is University Entry Scheme. In this scheme you can apply apply for Army in Pre-Final/Final Year of Engineering.
BE/B Tech in notified streams can also join IMA in the Technical Graduate Course.

The selection procedure is same as for IMA (Direct Entry) accepting that there are no written exams.

The duration of training is 1 ½ years for IMA (DE), five years (one year at IMA and four year at Cadet Training Wings) for 10+2 TES (incl one year after commissioning) and one year for all other entries.

The Indian Military Academy will train the selected candidates to lead from the front. The officers of Indian Army are trained in all aspects of combat and tactics using computers and other modern tools and technologies.

The IMA has excellent facilities for all-round development. You can go for adventure sports like river rafting, para jumping, rock climbing, trekking and mountaineering.

Apply for the upcoming Combined Defence Services (CDS) and National Defene Academy (NDA) Exam conducted by UPSC and become Officers in Indian Army
