India, most prestigious award Padmashri, Padmabhusan and Padmavibhusan for 2010 was given today President of India Smt Pratibha Patil.
Total 128 people got civilian awards from all fields like entertainment, sports, trade, art and culture etc. These 128 awards were 13 for Padma Vibhushans, 31 for Padma Bhushans and 84 for Padma Shri awards. Out of 128 award winners 31 was women.
Highest civilian awards in India - Bharat Ratna For the third consecutive year, Bharat Ratna was not given to anyone. There were some movement for Sachin Tendulkar for Bharat Ratna and Congressman and sports authority Rajeev Shukla even initiated the issue, but as sports sector is still not in the Bharat Ratna award winner list, it may need some amendment to give Sachin Tendulkar Bharat Ratna award. In 2008 Pandit Bhimsen Joshi got Bharat Ratna. He passed few days ago.
