Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium (also known as the MDC National Stadium), Delhi is a stadium which hosts national and international field hockey events. Since it was first set up in 1933, it has undergone a number of naming ceremonies! First named Irwin Amphitheatre, it was later known as the National Stadium. About eight years ago it acquired its present name; it is named after Dhyan Chand, a globally well-known hockey player of India. Earlier this year, the Dhyan Chand Stadium underwent major renovation to host the 2010 Hockey World Cup.

Other than field hockey, the Dhyan Chand stadium, Delhi is also a training hub for cricket. Musical programs are sometimes organised in this stadium too. The Dhyan Chand stadium, Delhi will take centre stage for the hockey competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Delhi.
